A card in the pocket reminds students at Palo Verde Middle School in Phoenix that being kind, respectful and responsible – in other words, demonstrating outstanding character at school – leads to rewards. And what reward motivates students to be accountable and helpful?

According to Mike Scantlin, a social-studies, government and history teacher at Washington Elementary School District’s largest middle school, an extra 90 minutes of playing soccer, basketball or flag football or listening to music.

Fernando Torres equalised with an 18-yard volley only for Erik Nevland to flick in a shot from close range to restore Fulham’s lead.

Philipp Degen and Jamie Carragher were sent off late on for Liverpool before Clint Dempsey tapped in Fulham’s third.

Degen was given a straight red after a late challenge on Dempsey just moments before Carragher, who will argue he got the ball, was dealt the same fate for a professional foul on Zamora.

Conficker infects 7M computers In One Years

The Conficker worm has passed a dubious milestone. It has now infected more than 7 million computers, security experts estimate.

On Thursday, researchers at the volunteer-run Shadowserver Foundationlogged computers from more than 7 million unique IP addresses, all infected by the known variants of Conficker.

They have been able to keep track of Conficker infections by cracking the algorithm the worm uses to look for instructions on the Internet and placing their own “sinkhole” servers on the Internet domains it is programmed to visit. Conficker has several ways of receiving instructions, so the bad guys have still been able to control PCs, but the sinkhole servers give researchers a good idea how many machines are infected.
